History of Tarphel Primary School

Literally the word “Taphel” is being derived from two different words, “Ta” meaning horse and “Phel” meaning to flourish.
One can visualize the shapes of the horses at three different directions of the mountains. Namely, ‘Shali Teng Tada’ in the south-west,‘Phenchu Tada’ in the north-east, and ‘Dungkhar Tada’ in the north. The localities even say ‘Tabrak’ meaning, in the middle of the horses.
The school is located at an altitude of 2177 meters towards the north of Trashi Yangtse. It caters to children’s of seven villages and at present there are…….children with….girls and ….boys. It is a boarding school with WFP aid and Stipend. Initially, the school was established in the year 1988 just with a teacher over hundreds of novice learners.
Currently, the school is being marched by Mr. Tashi Wangchuk (Principal) and five teachers(Mr.Phurpa Tenzin, Mr. Ngawang Chejay, Mr. Sonam Tshewang, Mr. Cheku Wangchuk, Mr. Yeshi Wangchuk). The three personnel (two cooks and a care taker) are also the celebrities to steer the good school.
Significantly, the school is situated at a place called, “Nyenkhar Dzong”. It is believed that, once there stood a dzong overlooking the villages of Cheng and Pangluwa. Still, the localities call upon as “Nyenkhar Lobdra” for the school and “Nyenkhar Dzong” for the place.
Even though, the school has many prospects of challenging the remoteness through the immense improvement of the infrastructure in the mere future. The school’s master plan stands right to help positioning the stature. Nevertheless, the essence of living and enjoying the beauty of ever green Tarphel is eternal.
