The Mock Drill for Earthquake of
our school was unanimously decided by the school Faculty to be conducted on the
29th of May, Tuesday, which is actually our HPE day. It was a fine
day which indeed boosted the moods of the teachers and the students.
Prior to the day, the following
teams were formed and briefed by the Principal and the Disaster club
coordinator, Mr. Phurpa Tenzin.
1.Search and Rescue Team
2.First Aid Team
3.Security Team
4.Casualty Team -
for the Mock Drill
5.Parents Team – for the Mck Drill
The tags for different teams were
prepared and also, borrowed some things from the BHU esp. for the First Aid
Team. The exit and entry ways were marked and even demonstrated the
movement(s). Children were first made aware of the siren and henceforth, it
would serve as the earthquake for their alertness and preparedness during the
real earthquake. Each of the above stated teams was given ample time to prepare
and to act. The members are now the full time members and they would be given
timely workshop(s) by the school’s Disaster Club Coordinator Mr. Phurpa Tenzin.
Each team is being lead by a teacher and except for the Security Team, who is
lead by the school’s caretaker.
With this Mock Drill, even the PP
children are now aware of such a thing and they clearly know their designated
evaluation ground. Two children from the PP were a part of casualty team and
during the mock session their seriousness has merely brought us that “Life is
indeed very precious”. Of all, we were very much proud and happy that all were
very serious and to our dismay our cook, Mr. Kanjur, one of the casualties was
cheered the most due of his seriousness. The drill session concluded after
lunch with a Mock Drill session with the boarder girls and boys- in their
hostels.
Lastly, we would like to thank
the “DDM” and “Save the Children”, for the fund, without which it would not
have been possible to conduct the Mock Drill in such a manner.
The first ever National Butterfly(Ludlow's Bhutan Swallowtail) Festival was celebrated today coinciding with the Social Forestry Day and the day was honoured by the Gewog's Gup, Mr. Tshering Gyeltshen and the Park Range Officer, Mr. Sangay. 2nd June; Social Forestry Day cum National Butterfly (Bhutanitis
Ludlow's Swallow tail) Festival.
The school will be organizing a first ever Festival - National
Butterfly, coinciding with the Social Forestry Day on the joyous
occasion of our Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuk's (4th King)
Coronation day.
The festival on the other hand is to make the local people aware of it
and its habitat in order to sustain which indeed is an endemic species
on this Mother Earth. It is one platform to advertise the
community-Tarphel Chiwog, under Bomdelling Gewog in Trashiyangtse- as it
remains a very remote village to the other gewogs and dzongkhags. The
festival would be graced by the Dasho Dzongdag with guests from
different sectors from the dzongkhag and gewog.
We would also like to thank the BWS park faculty for having granted the
fund to organize the festival. This event would henceforth remain an
annual event coinciding with the 2nd June, Social Forestry Day. There
will be a guest speech, cultural items, presentations, literary
competitions, plantation, art and gallery display and etc.
The blog is one of the initiatives of the school to comemmorate the teachers' day coinciding with the SHERIG Centenary along with the onset of the school's Silver Jubilee celebration. It is the school's teachers' unanimous consensus to create the school's web for a positive impact and to invite views and comments and also a platform to advertise the school in general. Likewise, the school faculty in whole would also like to thank Mr. Sonam Dorji, teacher of Lichen Primary School, without whom it had been not possible. It is with his support and guidance that this site is in this shape. Lastly, the school would also like to thank the Education Sector, Dzongkhag Administration, Tashiyangtsfor having granted the permission to use the expertise of Mr. Sonam Dorji.
